Mental illnesses are not adjectives.

They are not metaphors.

They are not personality traits.

This blog post is not me getting MAD at anyone or meant to make anyone feel bad. I am simply writing it to help people understand what exactly they are referring to in very common every-day phrases and the detrimental effects they can have on those living with a mental health disorder.

I, too, have been guilty of using these expressions. Everyone has. Sometimes they come to my mind, but I no lon...

I was so honored when Lyndsey asked to interview me for her portfolio. She has been through more in the last couple of years than some will go through in a lifetime. Our connection that grew to be as strong as it is through our struggles could never be broken. We get each other.

This angel writes so beautifully, and she has been one of my biggest supporters throughout all of my highs and lows. She believes in me, what I want to do and the vision I have for my life. I am fore...

Happy SOBER-SUNDAY everyone!

I’m sure most of my friends saw a post about alcohol coming. So here it is!

You can’t go into an MRI machine and check exactly which mental hea...

Hi! Happy Self-care Sunday! I hope your day has been full of only things that soothe your soul! Mine was spent with my mom doing errands, going to the dog park and napping (essential Sunday practice). My mom has always been my best friend but lately, being with her has an extra special meaning. I cherish our time together so much.

This space is not intended to be a timeline of my life but I wanted to go more in depth of where my mental health journey started.

My doctor has always told...

I have SO much to say but I don’t know where to begin. So - I will start off by introducing myself.

My name is Michelle Carbonneau and I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and moved to Calgary, Alberta at the age of 12. I am 110% obsessed with my dogs - they are truly the lights in my life. Even when they chew my mom's furniture (yes, I live with my parents again, that's normal at 25 yes?). I’ve always been in love with makeup and hair and finally at 25 years old I am in the process of tur...
